Staying Hydrated over Winter
Winter time is always a lot harder to keep the water intake up. Here are some quick tips to drinking more over the colder months:
1. Infuse Your Water
Bored with water? Infuse your water naturally with fruit or even cucumbers and mint for a tasty and healthy drink. You don’t need a fancy infusion water bottle either. Simply fill your water bottle or glass with berries or cucumbers, ice and water.
2. Keep a Water Bottle in Reach
As a rule of thumb, always have a water bottle by your side. It’s your best sidekick. If water is in reach, you will be more likely to drink it throughout the day.
3. Think 8
Drink 8 glasses of water daily. If you are exercising, sweating, or in warmer temperatures, drink even more water. The better hydrated you are, the more you will enjoy your outdoor activities. Just 3% dehydration can compromise brain function and create feelings of fatigue. Dehydration can cause everything from mental fogginess, impaired short-term memory, dizziness, and fatigue.
4. Cheers Before Each Meal
Drink a glass of water before each meal. Not only will this help prevent overeating, but it will also help you achieve your water intake each day.
5. Think Beyond Drinks
It is also important to consider the hydrating power of the foods we eat throughout the day. Eat foods with a high water content, such as watermelon, tomatoes, and cucumbers etc, at each meal.
